Selection

Selecting the right person for the task and responsibilities to be undertaken is a mixture of art and science, and the success of the exercise depends on good communication. We work closely with employers to create clear and accurate job specifications, and we work with our candidates to identify their skills, experience and personalities. In other words, we take the time to get to know all parties as well as possible.

All of our candidates, whether for temporary or permanent positions, are asked to participate in a comprehensive registration process to ensure that their abilities are accurately recorded.

  • efficient - cost effective in methods and sources?
  • effective - producing enough suitable candidates without excess and ensuring the identification of the best suited for the job and the organisation
  • fair - ensuring that right through the process decisions are made on merit alone.

All staff at Accord Appointments are aware of the implications of recruiting people who are unsuitable for an organisation as this can lead to increased labour turnover, increased costs for the organisation and lowering of morale in the existing workforce. These people are likely to be discontented, unlikely to give their best and end up leaving voluntarily or involuntarily when their unsuitability becomes evident. They will not offer the flexibility and commitment that many organisations seek. Managers and supervisors will then have to spend extra time on further recruitment exercises, when what is required in the first instance is a systematic process to assess accurately the role to be filled, and the skills and abilities needed to fill it.
